What review types does Griffin support?
Griffin supports the common structured review methodologies: HAZOP, CHAZOP and EHAZOP (Hazard and Operability studies), HAZID (Hazard Identification), and What-If reviews. Selecting the methodology populates the appropriate default deviation list for each node.
Can I import my existing studies?
Yes. Griffin can import data from Excel exports of other review tools, so past studies aren't left behind when you move across. Contact support@q5tech.net for assistance with importing specific review formats.
How is it licensed?
Each licence key is issued against the email address you nominate and the Machine ID of the PC or laptop it will run on. The licence belongs to the machine and not the Windows sign-in, so anyone working on that laptop is covered. Keys run for a fixed subscription term, and the registered email and expiry date are shown in the application at all times. Every new installation starts with a 7-day trial, and extended evaluations are available on request. If a licence lapses, Griffin opens projects in read-only mode while reporting stays active, and a new key restores full access.
Does Griffin do the analysis for me?
No — and that is deliberate. Griffin is a documentation and workflow tool. It records the review team's findings; it does not perform hazard analysis, calculate risk, or make safety judgements. The analysis is yours — Griffin makes sure none of it gets lost.
What platform does it run on?
Griffin is a Windows desktop application. Each project is stored as a single, self-contained file — with drawings, documents and evidence embedded — making it easy to archive, back up or hand over.
Can I customize reports?
Yes. All four report types are generated from fully customizable Word templates. You can add your company logo, adjust the formatting, and include the fields your clients expect. The output is a standard Word document ready for issue. Q5Tech can assist with customising the templates.
What about IT restrictions?
Griffin is a standard Windows desktop application. It does not require administrator rights to install and it stores its project files locally. There is no cloud dependency, no database server, and no network configuration needed to start a review.
How does support work?
Support comes by email directly from the development team. You are not routed through a call center. When you report a problem or ask a question, you hear back from someone who understands the tool and the work it does.
